STUDENTS AND TEACHERS DIARY

This blog is meant for schools in Europe and Ghana who are in partnership with the aim of creating awareness of Global Dimensions such as Sustainable Development, Diversity, Social Justice, Interdependence, Human Rights, Values and Perceptions, Conflict Resolution and Citizenship.

MOUNT TEMPLE COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL, IRELAND



22 STUDENTS FROM MT. TEMPLE SCHOOL VISITING JOY STANDARD SCHOOLS IN KUMASI-ATONSU, GHANA. 
February, 2011 Joy Standard Schools will host 22 students from Mt. Temple Comprehensive School, Ireland. Our students will learn and share ideas with students from Mt. Temple School.Students in both schools have started exchanging letters to learn together as well as profiles.

We hope to increase our students awareness of the global dimensions. This programme will equip our students to be creative minded, have thinking ability, increase creditably well in academics, have good moral conduct, have friends across the world, share ideas with friends, increase their good human relation


Message for Parents
Parents are advised to bring their wards to JOY STANDARD SCHOOLS to experience the importance of this partnership programme. There are a lot of Prizes/benefits for our students.

The above three ladies from Mount Temple Comprehensive School, Ireland visited Joy Standard School, Ghana on 8th August, 2010 and left us on the 13th August, 2010.

It was agreed to be in partnership which will create students awareness of global dimensions. Teachers and students will be having reciprocal visit to be exposed to new life in other countries. Students will be exchanging letters, gifts, daily diaries, cards, designs, posters, that depicts their culture.
   

PROJECT TITLE: Sharing Learning Experience 
CURRENT ACTIVITY: Preparation of Students Profiles to be exchanged (September/October, 2010) 

Joy Standard College students (26) have completed their profile today 15th October, 2010. It is under developed. James is now trying to upload their pictures on this blog. They will be sorted  Monday, 18, 2010 for posting by Tuesday.

VISIT: In February, 2011 Mount Temple Comprehensive School will be visiting Joy Standard School with 22 students. We hope to hold a very big durbar for their welcome.  


2.  JOY STANDARD COLLEGE / J.H.S (GHANA) IN PARTNERSHIP WITH 
THE BLANDFORD SCHOOL (UNITED KINGDOM)

The Blandford School in the UK and Joy Standard School in Ghana have been given a grant to support their reciprocal visit. It has been agreed that Teachers from Joy Standard School do the first visit for a week. The Matron/Director, Mrs.Christina Donkor and Ackon Kwame James (coordinator) will be embarking on the first visit. Davidson Emma and Mabbort will do the return visit to Joy Standard School in June, 2011.

I am here to talk about the benefits the student will get from this school partnership programme. 

BENEFITS TO STUDENTS
* It create awareness of global dimensions, which  promote advancement in academics both foreign and local. 

*Students will be visiting the United Kingdom to experience different learning environment and to know how it is to be in different country.

* Students will have pals (friends) in the United Kingdom who will learn with you about the subjects in Ghana and in UK. 

The International Children’s Painting Competition on the Environment is organized every year by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). A student take home a prize of US$ 2,000 with a fully paid trip for the winner and a chaperone to the Tunza International Children’s Conference. The winner will also receive a plaque and supplementary prizes. You can do paint work on A4 or A3 paper and submit to the Coordinator. Date of announcing the winners is 15th April, 2011. 5 winners will be awarded.
